It was a beautiful day in Georgia. The sun was out and there was a nice breeze coming in. It was the perfect day for Jasmine’s 1880’s theme graduation party. She loved anything from that period. From the fancy dresses to the actual history, it was her favorite thing. Ever since she was a little girl, she adored looking at how people dressed from different decades, though the 1800’s was her favorite.
He mother, being the crafty seamstress as she is, created the most beautiful blue dress with a white collar. Along the collar was a tint of brown. There was even a hat that went along with the outfit. It was a simple white hat with blue stripes. “Thank you, mom. I love it!” She exclaimed. Throwing on the dress just made her more excited than ever. Her whole family and a lot of her friends were going to be there. They were also told to dress up in 1880’s fashion. She couldn’t wait to see them all dressed up. They were going to have the event in a boat on the water. There was going to be finger sandwiches and grapes along with wine for the adults and Welch’s grape juice for everyone under twenty-one. It was time to go and she was putting the finishing touches of her makeup. “Honey. It’s time to leave.” Her dad says. He’s wearing a white tank-top like shirt and a tan hat with a blue brim. He grew out his beard just for this event and already had a toothpick in his mother. Her mother was already downstairs in her dress holding their little dog, Daisy. She was dressed in a dark blue dress with a red and white collar. Her hat was the same color as her dad’s only with flowers circling around the top. “I’m ready to go!” The all got into the car and started heading toward the venue. The drive was long, but worth it in Jasmine’s opinion. The beautiful Georgia landscape was paired nicely with the light-blue sky. The sun was out and shining as they drove. Once they arrived at the river where the graduation party was going to take place, they were greeted by the ship’s captain. “Good morning! Welcome to the party boat. My name is Captain William and I will be with you for the afternoon. Please follow me and watch your step.” He guided Jasmine and her parents onto the boat. Once they arrived onto the second level, where the party was taking place, they saw the simply decorated room. The tables were covered in white cloths and real fruit in bowls were placed on the table. Off to the side was a bar for the adults and the fake wine for her friends and younger cousins. There was a white and red stripped cover over the boat and the green grass was taller that the handrail. The boat itself over look the blue water and a bridge. All her family and most of her friends were already there. “Happy Graduation Jazzy. I’m really proud of you,” her uncle Max said giving her a quick hug before going to the bar. Her uncle Max was the type of family member that we only see at family gatherings, a little tipsy, and be the life of the party. Her friends from school were all dressed up just like her, just different colors. Her best friend, McKayla, came up to her. “Oh my God Jasmine! Your dress is beautiful,” she exclaimed. McKayla was wearing a red dress with a white collar. Her hat was just a regular straw hat and with a simple red ribbon tied around it in a bow. “Thank you. Your dress is really pretty too.” They talked for a while before getting asked to sit down. They were served stake and salad. Jasmine sat with McKayla and some of her other friends. Her parents sat with the tipsy uncle and her cousin. Her dog, Daisy would walk up to her some occasions, but was typically glued to her other uncle who kept feeding her food. It was an afternoon filled with laughter and eating. Jasmine’s parents couldn’t be any prouder of their daughter. Her friends and family all had an enjoyable time catching up with each other. If Jasmine could have, she would have stayed all day. But it was time to go. Saying goodbye to all her friends and family, she watched them all leave the party boat. She and her parents were the last ones to leave and once they did, they talked the whole ride home about the party. It was a great day for Jasmine. EKPHRASTIC BASES ON THIS PHOTO:
